My Summer Essentials

Hi friends! Summer is now officially here, so I thought I'd share my current summer essentials with you. Here are three products that have helped me a ton in the hot weather spring had to offer, which I will continue using all summer long as well.

Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer:

This self-tanner is a must have if you want to get prepped for a beach day with little time to spare. I personally dislike going to the beach looking pasty white after a long winter, and the Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow quickly solves this problem without worrying about damaging my skin by getting a real tan. In just three days my skin was a whole shade darker. I love this product so much that I made a full video about it, which you can check out here.

Rimmel London Match Perfection Silky Loose Face Powder

The Rimmel London Silky Loose Face Powder is the first loose powder I've ever tried. It seems to blend into my skin a lot better than pressed powder. Because it's so fine, it never looks cakey no matter how much I apply. It's a little messy to work with but so worth it in my book!

Sun Bum Banana Sunscreen Lip Balm SPF 30

A lip balm with an SPF is essential for beach days, or even just for being outside for extended periods in general on a really sunny day. My friend recommend the Sun Bum brand to me and I was blown away by the delightful banana scent and flavor! I have it with me in my purse at all times.

What are your summer must haves? Thanks for reading!! xo

Dealspotr: A Social Platform for Saving Money

Hi friends! Today I wanted to talk to you about Dealspotr. I’ve been using Dealspotr for almost a year now, and it’s been rewarding and a lot of fun!

What is Dealspotr?

Dealspotr is a money-saving platform where users can post deals, coupons, promos codes and discounts. Dealspotr is a social site, and allows interaction between like-minded money savers. Dealspotr’s website is extremely organised, allowing users to look up deals by category, brand, and even by trending deals. Not only is Dealspotr a great way to save money, but also to make money—Dealspotr rewards users with points for posting, validating and sharing deals. These points are redeemable for Amazon gift cards or Paypal cash for Trusted Influencers.

Browsing deals by store

How to use Dealspotr

To get started, users must create a profile. Creating a Dealspotr profile is quick and easy. Users can decide if they want to sign up via Facebook or simply with an email address.

Signup page

Once your account is set up, follow stores and interests to customise your feed. Follow other users to stay up-to-date on their newly added deals. When you’re ready, the next step is to post a deal! Simply type in the name of the store, and describe the deal in a few words. Indicate if the deal is site wide, applies to a single brand, and when it expires. Next, you’ll have the option to include a screenshot of the deal (include a screenshot of the sale announcement, or of your checkout screen if you are using the deal yourself) which will earn you more points. Include a tip on how to redeem the deal. The more detailed your tips are, the more points you’ll earn. Posting deals is quite fun and can be addictive! Users each have an accuracy score. This score is determined by how accurate the deals posted by a user are. A higher the accuracy score means you’ll earn more points for each deal posted.

Posting a deal

How to Redeem a Gift Card

Once users earn 10,000 points, they are able to redeem them for a $10.00 Amazon gift card. Redeeming gift cards is easy. Simply click to submit your redeeming request, and after a short processing period you’ll receive an email with a code valid for the gift card.

Why use Dealspotr for Deal Searching and Sharing Instead of Searching for Deals on Google?
  • Dealspotr organizes deals by expiry date. Because users earn points for accuracy, the deals contained on the site are highly accurate.
  • Dealspotr provides users with a personalised deal feed: This means the deals on a user’s feed are actually relevant to them. There is no need to scroll through irrelevant deals!
  • The Dealspotr website is a fully mobile-friendly site, you can quickly look for or post deals on the go (which is what I love to do!)
  • Dealspotr allows users to make money without spending any-users earn points simply by posting deals.

Dealspotr’s Influencer Network

Dealspotr has a team of influencers—if you have a blog you can apply to join the Influencer Network. Influencers earn double the points for each deal posted, and can have access to features such as redeeming their points for cash via Paypal, and ongoing paid writing projects. Bloggers can use Dealspotr’s deal-sharing widget to embed deals on their blog, to let their readers know of any hot sales going on! The deal-sharing widget will be automatically updated by Dealspotr with a similar deal once it expires. That way, bloggers won’t have to worry about dead links. I’ve used the deal-sharing widget below with a deal from New Balance as an example:

If you are interested, feel free to use my referral link to join Dealspotr. After joining and completing your daily checklist, you’ll earn an extra 5,000 points.

May 2-4 2017

Hi friends! For May 2-4 this year I went to my parents cottage with Simon. I had a really relaxing time and was able to see my friend Alicia whom I hadn't seen since the Christmas holidays. We went for dinner at Paulo's in Belleville and it was delicious! It rained on an off all day Sunday but I was still able help my mom with a bit of gardening and go for a walk around the village. On our way home Simon and I made a quick detour to Wellington to stop at a lookout point on Lake Ontario. It was a bit foggy but still pretty!

Hope you had a great weekend as well!! Thanks for stopping by! xo

Taste of Summer OOTD

Hello lovelies! This week we had a little heatwave and the temperatures soared. The leaves on the trees grew like crazy these past two days and so many flowers have bloomed. Feeling the sun soaking into my skin once again was amazing.

These photos were taken super early this morning before work in my backyard, so you get to see a little sneak-peek! I finished staining my deck earlier this week and it feels great to be done. I kept my outfit super casual with Birkenstocks because I'm all about comfort (I usually wear them with socks tbh).
Top: Kelso (borrowed from my Mom!)
Skirt: Dynamite
Sandals: Walmart
Watch: Avon
Bracelet: Rainbow-Loom made by yours truly a few years back
My tulips are fully open and gorgeous!

Hope the weather is fabulous where you are as well! Thanks for stopping by! xo

Neutrogena RapidClear Overnight Acne Control Gel

Hi loves!! It's been over a month since my last blog post, I can't believe how fast the time has flown! I've been quite busy with spring things, that is, giving my backyard some much needed TLC. When Simon and I bought our house, the backyard was an overgrown disaster. We've been working hard fixing up the lawn, the gardens and the deck. We are almost done and super pleased with the results. More to come on that, but now let's get back to what this blog post is about.

A little while ago, I popped into the drugstore since I was low on my moisturizer, and came across a Neutrogena value set containing a moisturizer, a cleanser and the RapidClear Overnight Acne Control Gel. The set was on sale for cheaper than buying the moisturizer I usually buy on it's own, so of course I snatched it up! Unfortunately, I'm still dealing with acne and I'm getting close to 30 (I'll be 27 in less than a month--eek!). I'm always interested in trying new products to keep my acne at bay. I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with this gel! It kind of reminds me of the Proactiv mask that you're supposed to leave on for 10 minutes and then wash off. However I find the Proactiv mask was always hard to wash off, as it often stuck to my skin. The Neutrogena RapidClear Overnight Acne Control Gel is meant to be applied before bed on any blemishes, and left on for the whole night. In the morning, this gel washes off super easily with any face wash. It also doesn't have a smell (unlike the Proactiv mask which smells like sulphur). I've been using this product for about a month and a half and my acne has improved a ton! I get much less blemishes and when I do get some, they are much smaller. The gel "dries your pimples up" and makes them much less red and swollen. If you have an unsightly zit in the evening, after using this product overnight your zit will be much less noticeable and easily covered up with a bit of concealer.

Have you tried the Neutrogena RapidClear Overnight Acne Control Gel? What is your go-to acne control product? Thanks for stopping by! xo

April Sunshine OOTD

Hello lovelies!! It's finally getting warmer here! There's a French saying that goes: "Au mois d'avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil" which means "In April, do not remove a single thread". The literal translation doesn't make much sense, but the saying means that in April, it's still too early to be putting away all your winter gear as the temperature can still go below zero degrees (and often does!). The first few days of April were quite cold and rainy. However, this weekend has been gorgeous and well above zero so Simon and I decided to go for a long walk near the Ottawa river. As you can see, it's still a bit gloomy out as the trees are still barren but the gorgeous sunshine made up for it!

Be Kinder to Yourself

Sometimes I feel like I'm my own biggest critic. I can be a perfectionist at times and I overthink tiny details. I decided to write this post to help anyone who might also struggle in this area. We should love ourselves and encourage ourselves, not focus on our flaws. It's important to remember that no one is perfect. If you've made a mistake today, forgive yourself! Remember that tomorrow is a new opportunity to try again. If you're kind to yourself you'll feel more positive, and it will be easier for you to be kind to others. Here is a list of ways to be kinder to yourself:

-Take deep breaths; relax
-Take a bath
-Drink a lot of water
-Let go of negative thoughts
-Go for a walk
-Eat healthy
-Treat yourself to a sweet
-Stop comparing yourself to others
-Listen to the wind in the trees
-Exercise
-Take time for your hobbies
-Spend time with animals
-Remember that you're unique

What are some of the things you do to be kinder to yourself? Thank you for stopping by! xo

Schwarzkopf Got 2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion REVIEW

Hi friends! In today's blog post I wanted to share my appreciation for the Schwarzkopf Got 2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion with you. This serum has been a LIFE SAVER for me lately! I have damaged, dry hair and unfortunately I have a lot of pesky fly-aways. It's been raining on and off for the past while, and rain always makes my fly-aways much worse. If I wear my hair down, I apply a small amount of serum into the ends of my hair to keep split-ends at bay. When I wear my hair up, I apply a small amount to the sides of my head. This serum has kept my hair under control and smooth all day long with either hairstyle!

The Schwarzkopf Got 2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion contins cashmere (how fancy), and smells amazing! I really love the texture of this serum: it's not sticky or oily at all. It just melts into the hair and does a fantastic job. This serum also contains a UV protectant as an added bonus!!

What's your favorite hair serum? Thanks for stopping by! xo

Hi friends!! I'm very excited to be posting my final update for my perfume sample project pan! Julep Orbital Eyeshadow in Zenith

Hi lovelies! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the Julep Orbital eyeshadow in Zenith. It's a gorgeous cooper brown packed with gold glitter flecks. The packaging is very chic. I love that it has a built-in mirror! To obtain maximum impact, I find it's best to apply Zenith by gently tapping it on my eyelid with a brush, while avoiding swirling motions. Unfortunately, Zenith creates a lot of fallout.... but babyyyy, that glitter! The gold flecks catch the light and give your my eyes dimension. I kept the look simple by layering Julep over a nude eyeshadow that I applied all over as base.
Products used:
-Hard Candy Eyes The Limit eyeshadow primer
-Estee Lauder eyeshadow in Waves
-Julep Orbital eyeshadow in Zenith
-Estee Lauder Double Wear mascara

Have you tried any makeup products from Julep? Thanks for reading! xo

Let's Celebrate Something Today

Hi friends! I wanted to share this easy DIY project I recently did with you. If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I have a soft spot for motivational quotes. In fact, I have encouraging quotes all over my house! I stumbled upon the phrase "Let's Celebrate Something Today" on Pinterest and I immediately knew I wanted to have it up on my wall somehow. It's a great reminder to make the most out of everyday. There is always something that is worth celebrating, even if it's as simple as thanking God for another day to enjoy!

I used stencils, bristol paper and a permanent marker to write the quote, and pretty scrap-booking paper and string to make the banner. These photos were taken in my old bedroom in my parent's house, but the frame is now hung up on the wall in my office. You might recognize the frame from a previous DIY project: do you remember my positive quote collage? (Check it out here.)

What are your favorite motivational quotes? Thank you for reading! xo

Essence Get Big! Lashes Triple Black Mascara

Hello lovely readers! I'm excited to be writing my first post of 2017! I recently picked up a tube of Essence Get Big! Lashes Triple Black mascara (because I didn't feel like splurging on L'Oreal). I'm always amazed at how great Essence products are for their low price point, and this mascara is no exception!
The brush is huge, and to be honest I was a little intimidated by it at first. Would it give me harsh, clumpy lashes? However, this mascara leaves my lashes looking super soft and full, without any sign of clumps! I will say it is hard to reach into the corners of my lashes without making a mess, but that could just be me. I'm usually messy when it comes to mascara application (I always have a handy q-tip nearby!)
Overall, I'm really happy I picked up the Essence Get Big! Lashes Triple Black mascara. I'm looking forward to trying all of Essence's mascaras!

Hoping your year is off to a great start! Thanks for reading! xo
