September Favorites ♥

Hello lovelies! I wanted to talk about my favorite products that I've been reaching for again and again this month:

1- Sephora The Painter Airbrush Sponge: I'm completely in love with this sponge! I use it to apply my foundation and concealer, and I find it really helps my makeup look more natural and not cakey. I prefer using it dry rather than wet.

2- White Barn Mahogany Teakwood Scented Candle: This is the perfect fall candle! It smells like a man's cologne. I find the scent so relaxing and comforting.

3- Viva by Fergie eau de parfum spray (Avon): I love this fragrance for fall and winter! It's a sultry, stronger scent, with notes of lavender and vetiver. I find it almost smells like a feminine version of a man's cologne.

4- Bright Autumn Day PocketBac by Bath and Body Works: This hand sanitizer is so lovely! It smells like yummy cinnamon with citrus notes. I'm also a fan of the green color!

NOTD: Sharpie Manicure!

Hello loves! I have seen quite a few pictures of Sharpie manicures on Pinterest lately. Since I already own metallic Sharpies (they are so fun for crafts!) and white nail polish, I decided to give this manicure a go myself. The Sharpie drew very easily on to my nails and it took no time at all to do this design. I let the Sharpie dry, then applied a thin coat of hairspray to my nails. That sounds weird right?? I read on Pinterest that hairspray stops the Sharpie from smudging when you apply the top coat. As you can see in the pictures, my nails still smudged a bit. However, the hairspray did help because I tried applying the top coat without hairspray on my thumb and the smudging was horrible! I had to go back in with the white polish and repair it. This manicure didn't last very long because the hairspray made my top coat peel off. Overall, I probably wouldn't do this manicure again, but it was fun to try!

What are your thoughts on Sharpie manicures? Thanks for reading! xo

Avon Ultra Luxury Lip Liner In Deep Plum

Hello loves! I'm usually not much of a lip product person but I decided it was time that I stepped out my comfort zone and had fun!! I've been seeing so many gorgeous vampy lip looks for fall, so when I saw that Avon's ultra luxury liners were on sale in the last campaign I picked a few up. I decided to go for bold vampy colors, so I chose a purple and a red. I actually really like this deep purple color! It's definitely not for everyday, but it's fun for going out or if you're just in a bold mood. Avon's ultra luxury lip liners sharpen super easily and glide onto the lips. They have pretty good staying power, only quick touch-ups are needed after a meal.

Here is the lip liner by itself.
In this photo I added some clear lip gloss.

This is the gloss I used, it's just a clear one from Arbonne that I had in my collection.

Are you a fan of vampy lips? Thanks for stopping by! xo

Happy Fall!!

Hello loves! Fall 2015 is officially here!! I've already had a ton of pumpkin spice lattes, and the weather has cooled down enough for me to wear my combat boots this week. I'm looking forward to even colder days so I can bundle up in my scarves and pretty coats again! I decided to decorate a few corners of my room to celebrate this beautiful season. Some of my decor items are new from this year, while others are old pieces I've had for a while.

The smaller candles on the right are new from this year from Bath and Body Works. The larger candle was also purchased from Bath and Body Works a looooong time ago, back when Bath and Body Work's candles were from Slatkin and Co. The pumpkin and cat are from Walmart I believe. I've had them forever!
This tea light holder is from Walmart, and I've also had it for years.

These garlands are from the dollarstore and they are new! I love the shadow they cast on the wall. This is my "decoration/craft stuff/junk shelf".

What are you excited about for fall? Thanks for stopping by! xo

Pre-dinner selfie!!

Simon wore the same suit he wore last year. You can see it here. Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! :) xo

My Top Three Holy Grail Makeup Products

Hello loves! I'd thought I'd share my top three Holy Grail makeup products with you. These are products that I've purchased again and again because I'm so blow away by their quality and low price! You might have heard me mention them in previous posts, but I thought it would be nice to dedicate a blog post to them.

My first Holy Grail is the Maybelline Fit Me setting powder. This powder has never failed me. It never makes me look cake-y and keeps my skin looking matte longer than any other drug store powder I've tried. My skin is quite oily so I do need to touch up my t-zone after a full work day, especially in the warmer months. I keep an extra Maybelline Fit Me setting powder in my purse for touching up and even when I apply a second layer, my skin is still never cake-y.

The Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara is my second Holy Grail. This mascara retails for $5.99 CAD which is on the cheap end, even for a drug store mascara. Don't let the low price fool you, this mascara is priceless in my opinion!! It gives me defined and very long lashes after applying two coats. My friends always ask me what mascara I'm wearing when I use it and they are always surprised when they learn how cheap it is! The formula is on the wet side but dries very quickly and is never flaky. It also wipes away from the skin super easily, which is perfect for me since I always manage to make a mess when applying it to my lower lashes. I prefer the "Lot of Lashes" version to the original version because I'm a huge fan of plastic brushes. The original version has a bristle brush which I find doesn't separate my lashes as well.

Finally, my third Holy Grail product is the Avon Ultra Luxury Brow Liner. This brow pencil glides over my brows and gives them a polished look, without being too harsh. My brows stay nice all day without fading. This pencil often goes on sale for $1.99 CAD which is a steal!

What are your Holy Grail beauty products? Thanks for reading! xo

OOTD: Checkered Shirt and Combat Boots

Shirt: Soulstar (thrifted!)
Tank top: Suzy Shier
Jeans: Urban Planet
Boots: Anna
Earrings: Forever 21

I love checkered and plaid patterns for the fall and winter seasons. My shirt is actually a men's size medium so it's slightly too big, but super comfy! I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday! xo

Book Review: No Good Girls by Jean Marie Pierson

No Good Girls by Jean Marie Pierson is such a cute novel! It's definitely a chick-lit, but very well written. Some parts made me laugh, while others made me tear up! No Good Girls is the first novel I've read by Jean Marie Pierson and I really love her style.

Geri a 20-something single girl waiting for her "New York Minute" to change her drab life into a magical happy ending. She's definitely not your typical young woman: after her mother left her father behind for another man when she was very young, Geri has had an imaginary friend. His name is J.T., and he's been around ever since! Between work mishaps and drunken nights at the bar with her girlfriends, Geri is trying to find her soulmate. She falls in love with her sweet and handsome neighbour, but unfortunately he already has a girlfriend! I really enjoyed this book and the ending was very different from other romance novels I've read.

Pro-FX Quick Dry High Gloss Top Coat Review

Hello loves! I recently tried out the Pro-FX Quick Dry High Gloss top coat and was highly impressed. I had never heard of the Pro-FX brand before, but my sister spotted it while we were browsing the nail polish section at Walmart recently.
First of all, look at how huge this bottle is compared to a "regular" sized nail polish bottle! The Pro-FX Quick Dry High Gloss top coat is supposed to be a "salon size" bottle, and contains 2.5 oz! This regular size of Sally Hansen polish contains only 0.45 oz. This top coat is a perfect size for me, since I go through them quickly as I like to paint my nails at least once a week.
Here are my nails right after applying the top coat. I applied two coats of Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip nail color in "Nude Shimmer" and one coat of the Pro-FX Quick Dry High Gloss top coat. There is slight bubbling on my ring finger and thumb nails, but I'm blaming that on myself since I was heavy-handed in my application of the top coat. The brush is pretty massive so it's easy to apply a thick coat, but only a thin coat is necessary.
Here are my nails a full 5 days post polishing. As you can see, there are only minor chips on my thumb and middle finger nails. I think this this top coat did an awesome job since I did a lot of gardening and some cleaning since my manicure was applied!

Overall I'm very happy with this top coat. And the best part? It only cost $4.98 CAD!!! Have you tried this top coat yet? Thanks for reading! xo

NOTD: Matte Gray and Pink

I'm a huge fan of matte nails for the fall and winter seasons. I feel like matte nails are so chic and sophisticated! I used my L'Oreal "The Matte Velvet" topcoat to transform regular polishes into mattes. I've mentioned this topcoat before on my blog when I used it to create a matte black mani. This time I decided to go for something a little more colorful!
 Polishes used:
-Maybelline Color Show nail lacquer in "Chiffon Chic"
-Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle nail color in "Fearless Fog"
-L'Oreal The Magic Topcoats in "The Matte Velvet"

Happy Labour Day weekend!! xo
