Book Review: Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding

Hello loves! I've been reading quite a bit this month. I have another quick review for you, a chick lit of course!! And what could be a better chick lit than a Bridget Jones novel?

This book is set about fourteen years after Bridget meets Mark Darcy. She may be older, but she is definitely the exact same Bridget Jones, hilarious, irresponsible, illogical but always adorable.

Unfortunately Mark had died four years ago and Bridget has become a widow with two young children, Billy, 7, and Mabel, 4. Thanks to her broken heart (and her grated cheese addiction) Bridget has gained 40 lbs and has not moved on much since Mark has passed away. She has basically given up on life. Finally her friends manage to encourage her to get back in shape and re-launch her career, as well as navigate online dating and social media. Eventually, Bridget's trusty dating advice books and her wittiness on twitter help her meet Roxster, a toy boy who is 21 years her junior! Roxster is just what Bridget needs: he makes her see she still is a desirable woman and romance can blossom again after a tragedy. But will Roxster and Bridget's love last??

I absolutely loved this novel. The ending was a bit predictable but nevertheless adorable. Overall this is an amazing book of love, life, and finding one's self after a loss.

Thanks for reading :)

Book Review: How To Fall In Love by Cecelia Ahern

Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite authors. This book was SO fun to read! The title sounds like a self-help book, and the chapters are all written self-help style: "How to Sincerely Apologise When You Realize You Have Hurt Someone", "How to Have Your Cake and Eat It", "How to Dig a Hole to the Other Side of the World". However this is NOT a self-help book, it's a really cute and romantic novel, with a very serious side to it.

Christine is the main character and the novel starts off with her going through an awful time. She recently made the difficult decision to leave her husband. Why? Did he cheat on her? Or was he abusive? No, but Christine wasn't happy in her marriage and instead of accepting a lifetime of misery, she chose to leave him. Now she looks like the bad guy and is stuck living in an empty flat she can barely afford, while her ex husband is doing everything in his power to make her life harder.

One night while Christine is wandering about Dublin like she usually does during her bouts of insomnia, she meets Adam. However this is no ordinary meeting, as Adam is poised to jump from the Ha'Penny bridge! Christine is desperate to help and talks him into a deal. She'll prove him his life is worth living in two weeks time, if he promises to stay alive until then. This task quickly proves to be easier said than done!

During the days that follow, Christine makes it her mission to "fix" Adam's life: she will help him win back his girlfriend, get his job back and find a way out of his family business duties, all without letting Adam leave her sight. She tries to show him happiness through little things. As the days move forward, little by little, something completely unexpected starts to happen!

I really loved that this book isn't your usual chick lit; it has a darker side as well as the usual fluffy stuff. "How to Fall in Love" is definitely a hard book to put down, and my favourite Cecelia Ahern novel yet!!

Thanks for reading! xo

EOTD: Glitter Eyeliner ♥

Hello loves! I received a TON of makeup for Christmas, including a huge kit from The Color Institute. This kit included four super pretty glitter eyeliners! I love glitter eyeliners, they are so fun and can really dress up your eyes. Here is a super simple look using the royal blue glitter eyeliner from the kit:

I used a light brown eyeshadow all over my lid, a white eyeshadow
to highlight my brow bone and a generous coat of the glitter eyeliner.
I then added two coats of mascara.

My Favorite Healthy Snack

As part of my new years resolutions I want to try to eat healthier, especially after my holiday chocolate binging (cliché, I know!). I'm not going to attempt any crazy diets but I'm trying to eat more fruits and veggies. Usually I'm a Junk Food Queen and I need to stop!

I love apples, especially Royal Gala apples. However sometimes a plain apple by itself is boring, so I like to add maple syrup to it :) I love the Aunt Jemina Lite Syrup because it's very low on calories (only 80 calories for three whole tablespoons!). A cup of coffee to go along with my snack is a must.

What's your favorite healthy snack? Thanks for reading :) xo
