FOTD: Subtle Smoke

Hi lovelies! Just wanted to share my FOTD with you. I've been really loving the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base and the L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder lately! They are great products for the summer heat: the Magic Perfecting Base helps my makeup stay on and not "melt off" when it's REALLY hot, and the Magic Nude liquid Powder is so light! I will have a full review on the Magic Nude Liquid Powder coming soon. Now on to my FOTD:

Little Summer Haul ♥

Hi loves!! I am off from work this week, and what better way to celebrate my week off than shopping?? I picked up a few things yesterday and today but I didn't got too crazy. I only purchased a few fun things I thought I'd share with you.
Bath and Body Works is having a sale so I grabbed some lotions ("Sheer Freesia" and "Brown Sugar and Fig")  and I couldn't resist buying this little "Citron Cedarwood" candle! It smells so yummy!
I bought this lovely maxi dress from H&M. I love the burnt orange color! It will work in the fall as well, I can already picture myself wearing it with a cardigan and an infinity scarf!
These cute pants are from Forever 21. I was thinking of wearing them with a white blouse for work.
 They are so comfy!

These next items are from The Face Shop. I had never heard of that store before, and recently I've seen a few locations open up in the malls I like to shop. Today I decided to check it out! The Face Shop is actually a Korean brand. How exciting! I've never tried Korean makeup before!
I've already tried these Mango Seed cleansing tissues to remove my makeup this evening when I got home from the mall. They work really well and smell delicious!
I purchased this ADORABLE Rose Cushion Blusher in 01 Rose Cushion and a tube of Freshian Volumizing Mascara. The Face Shop's makeup is really affordable and I love trying new mascaras and blushes, so I thought why not?
The cashier handed me a bag of samples to try. They have everyhting: face washes, creams, toner, masks, BB and CC creams, bars of soap and lots of makeup! I'm glad I stopped in. Once I try out the blush and mascara I'll post a full review!

Book Review: Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

Twenties Girl is another masterpiece from Sophie Kinsella (in my opinion, at least). Her chicklits are my guilty pleasure. This time I'm only going to give you a brief intro and not spoil the whole plot!
Twenties Girl tells the story of Lara Lington, a twenty-something year old woman who's life is not totally in order... She is trying to run a head-hunting company while her business partner, Natalie, has deserted her, and she recently broke up with her boyfriend Josh, and is trying to figure out what went wrong. Things can't get any worse, can they?? Lara is suddenly visited with the spirit of her great-aunt Sadie. Now she has a feisty ghost to deal with on top of everything else!!

Sadie cannot rest until she finds her lost dragonfly necklace. Lara agrees to help her look for it, but it seems she is on a wild-goose chase. And Sadie is causing mischief and landing Lara in trouble wherever the pair go (not to mention causing Lara to look like a lunatic, talking to thin air). Throughout their adventures together Lara begins to learn a lot about her heritage and the importance of family. Thanks to her perseverance, Lara uncovers the truth about Sadie's past and the secret her uncle Bill has been hiding for over 20 years. She also has the courage to stand up to her so-called best friend Natalie and put her in her place. And it wouldn't be a Sophie Kinsella novel if there wasn't a new romance budding for Lara!!

Check this book out, it's guaranteed to move you while giving you a good laugh.

Summer 2014 Luxebox ♥

Hello loves :) I was really happy to see my Luxebox waiting for me when I got home from work today!! I'm very impressed with it!

If you don't already know, Luxebox is a service offered by a company called Loose Button. Unlike monthly boxes, Luxebox is a quarterly subscription: one box for each season!!  Full size and deluxe size samples of beauty products (including skin, nails, fragrance, etc.) are mailed to your door for a low price, giving you the chance to try products out before actually buying them. Find them here:

 From top left, clockwise:
-Eslor Introductory Skincare Collection: Hydrate, Treat, Protect
-Teeez Chain Of Stones Nail Lacquer in "Toxic Tangerine"
-Teeez Spectrum Of Stars Eyeshadow in "Vanilla Sunbeam"
-Crest 3D White Strips and Toothpaste samples and coupons
-Crabtree & Evelyn La Source ultra-moisturising hand therapy
-pair of tweezers
-Nicole by OPI mini nail polish in "Shop Mintage"
-Prada Infusion d'Iris Eau de Parfum
-Nexus Color Assure Sulfate-Free System samples

I haven't properly tried out all the products yet of course but I did peek around/smell some of them! Here are my thoughts:
This hand lotion smells absolutely amazing! It has a "manly" scent to it,
almost like aftershave. Kinda strange but I love it!!
This Teeez company has me really intrigued. The packaging is so unique! I really do like this color (no, it's not the color on my nails in the eyeshadow picture! I'm wearing "Snappy Sorbet" by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. They are very similar colors but this "Toxic Tangerine" seems to have a bit more red to it).
Prada Infusion d'Iris is so lovely! It feels like an expensive perfume, does that make sense? Like a perfume only sophisticated people can wear. The mandarin and neroli make it a summery smell while the cedar and the incense make it suitable for night time--date night perhaps?
This Teeez eyeshadow is in such an interesting container! And I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the actual color of the eyeshadow. I was expecting a very light color as per the name "Vanilla Sunbeam" (I was thinking light beige) but this is a GORGEOUS metallic pale bronze.
Seriously how cute? I will soon be posting a review on all the Teeez products I've tried!

Thanks for reading!! xo

OOTD: Striped Skirt

Hello everyone!! This week the air conditioner has been on the fritz at work... While it is technically still spring, the office feels like a mid-August heat wave! Normally I wouldn't wear only a tank top to work (or anywhere really, I don't like showing that much skin) but it's just that hot.
Tank top: Old Navy
Skirt: Kozy (I purchased it from Beyond the Rack!)
Shoes: Montego Bay Club
I really like this skirt! The material is so light!
My friend Farida bought me these sandals for my birthday. They are so fun!
Bracelet: Forever 21
Nails: Sally Hansen Insta Dri in "Pumped Up Pink"
Also I finally got a hair cut! Just a trim. Can you tell?? My ponytail is shorter ;)
I'm keeping it tied up until the A/C is back!!

I hope everyone is having a cool week! Thanks for reading! xo

OOTD: High-low Skirt ♥

Hello loves :) I am totally in love with high-low skirts. They are just so versatile!! You can dress them up with cute sandals and statement jewelry, or dress them down with combat boots and a baggy sweater on top (because why not??). I went for an in-between look with a cardigan and flats.
Skirt: Forever 21
Tank top: Suzy Shier
Cardigan: Forever 21
Flats: Ardene
Side view!!
These poor flats... this was their last day! When I got home from work I noticed a pretty
big hole on the bottom of the right foot... What's with all my shoes falling apart??
On the bright side I have an excuse to buy more ;)

Are you a fan of the high-low look?? Thanks for reading! xo
